PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of varying the vibration frequency of a defect mode by combining a photonic crystal and controlling its property, and to provide such a photonic crystal system.;SOLUTION: The three-dimensional photonic crystal system (1) has two three-dimensional photonic crystals (2, 3) whose top and reverse surfaces have different dielectric characteristics and a defect layer (4) provided between the two three-dimensional photonic crystals. This three-dimensional photonic crystal system has the above-mentioned constitution, so the specific interaction action between the defect layer and three-dimensional photonic crystals can be adjusted by changing directions of the three-dimensional photonic crystals coming into contact with the defect layer.
