PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method by acoustic resonance of metal-halide lamp, in which optimal mixing is secured at various active positions of the lamp. PSOLUTION: A first resonant value of an impedance is obtained theoretically or experimentally to determine a measuring interval using a frequency point corresponding to the first resonant value, a characteristics map is obtained by scanning various amplitude modulation factors changed in steps, the optimal amplitude modulation factor is obtained from the characteristics map, the maximum value of lamp impedance change to the corresponding value is obtained, frequency corresponding to the optimal amplitude modulation factor is searched and an optimal operational frequency is determined by sweeping a frequency interval between this corresponding frequency and a predetermined value.
