PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To emulate a plurality of FD media by a single removable medium without requiring any physical switch or the like.;SOLUTION: In this drive device, a virtual FD area matching one or more FD media is allocated to a storage area held by a single removable medium and the allocated area is used. The drive device is provided with an area switching means sequentially switching the virtual FD areas for the respective FD media when removal of the removable medium is detected and installation of the same removable medium is detected within a predetermined time. When bookmark information is set for each area matching one FD medium in the virtual FD medium allocated to the removable medium and selection of the virtual FD medium area based on the bookmark information is allowed, area management in an actual operation time is facilitated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
