PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball screw groove machining tool which can form a spiral groove of a necessary form in a short period of time, and to provide a ball screw groove machining method for using the machining tool.;SOLUTION: The ball screw groove machining tool has a plurality of grindstones (a rough grinding grindstone 1b, an intermediately rough grinding grindstone 1c, and a finish grinding grindstone 1d) arranged on a grinder main shaft 1a at locations that are axially separate from each other by one pitch of the ball screw groove. The grindstones 1b, 1c, 1d have different diameters that are progressively increased in this order beginning from the rough grinding grindstone 1b to the finish grinding grindstone 1d. By virtue of this structure, the spiral groove of the desired form can be formed by one-way machining in one cycle. Therefore compared with a conventional grinding method in which a machining tool is repeatedly reciprocated, the present ball screw groove machining method contributes to drastic shortening of a machining period.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
