PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a relative inclination between a nozzle array of a recording head and an optical axis of a detection light of a liquid droplet detecting means without the need of discharging ink droplets from all of nozzles of the recording head.;SOLUTION: An inclination calculation process is also set, in which the relative inclination between the nozzle array of the recording head and the optical axis of the liquid droplet detecting means is calculated on the basis of a detection process of detecting a position of the recording head or a position of the liquid droplet detecting means at the time when ink droplets are discharged from the nozzles and detected by the liquid droplet detecting means to pass through the optical axis while the recording head and the liquid droplet detecting means are moved relatively to each other.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
