PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology for securely distributing a digital certificate in the case that the digital certificate different from that in use is going to be distributed to a communication apparatus. PSOLUTION: In a digital certificate transfer method, a superordinate apparatus 30 for transferring a digital certificate to a subordinate apparatus 40 being a communication opposite party is made to execute a first transfer procedure wherein the superordinate apparatus 30 uses a rescue public key certificate being an emergency digital certificate to authenticate the subordinate apparatus 40 and transfers an ordinary certificate being the digital certificate for ordinary communication to the subordinate apparatus 40 when the authentication is successful, and the superordinate apparatus 30 is made to execute a second transfer procedure wherein the superordinate apparatus 30 receives a first CA public key certificate being an ordinary certificate from the subordinate apparatus 40 (S606) and transfers a second CA certificate set including a second CA public key certificate to the subordinate apparatus 40 (S609 to S612) when the superordinate apparatus 30 discriminates that the transfer of the second CA public key certificate being an ordinary certificate different from the first ordinary certificate is required for the subordinate apparatus 40 on the basis of the reception.
