PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically backup data stored in a portable terminal, with rapidity, with ease and at a low cost and maintain a high security in backup. PSOLUTION: The data backup method comprises a step of setting a trigger (date, condition, etc.) in the case of backup of a data group 30 stored in a storage unit 12 into a memory card 40; a step of monitoring an occurrence state of the trigger; and a step of performing backup of archived data 35 with the data group 30 compressed therein into the detachable memory card 40 on the basis of the result of the monitoring of the trigger when the trigger occurs.
