PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monomolecular magnet constructed by a heteronomous spin system using a metal and a carbene as a spin source, in which only one metal atom is used.;SOLUTION: The present invention relates to the monomolecular magnet which can be obtained by irradiating light to a solution obtained by mixing a compound expressed by a formula (1) with a metal complex or metal salt (metals of the metal complex and the metal salt show Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Y, Zr, Nb, Mo, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Cd, Hf, Ta, W, Re, Os, Ir, Pt, Au or Hg), and a method of manufacturing the monomolecular magnet. In formula (1), R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 independently show a hydrogen atom, methyl group, ethyl group, normal propyl group, isopropyl group, normal butyl group, isobutyl group, secondary butyl group, tertiary butyl group, methoxy radical, ethoxy radical, normal proxy radical, isopropoxy radical, normal butoxy radical, isobutoxy radical, secondary butoxy radical or tertiary butoxy radical, respectively.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
