PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaping method by using an orthogonal triaxial finishing machine, according to which normal control machining is carried out only by triaxial control of an orthogonal triaxial finishing machine without using a tool rotation shaft such as a B axis, and a machining point on a grindstone surface is set to a constant location, to thereby carry out grinding and shaping of a revolution surface of an axially symmetrical shape or a free-form surface with high precision and with good reproducibility.;SOLUTION: The shaping method is carried out by using the orthogonal triaxial finishing machine having a work spindle and a tool spindle. Specifically the shaping method is carried out by rotating a workpiece W on one axis by the work spindle, and rotating a tool 24 by the tool spindle, to thereby carry out shaping of the workpiece W. According to the method, triaxial control of the orthogonal triaxial finishing machine is carried out such that an angle which a vector PQ→ connecting between a machining point P of the workpiece W and an intersection point Q vertically extending downward from the machining point P to a rotation center axis of the tool 24, forms with a normal vector PQ→ of a machining surface at the machining point P, is set to a constant value, to thereby carry out machining of the workpiece W.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
