PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for selectively adsorbing sodium ion, potassium ion and rubidium ion from an aqueous solution in which every kinds of cations coexist.;SOLUTION: The specific alkali metal ion adsorbent comprises a compound expressed by the following formula (1) as an active principle and selectively adsorbs sodium ion, potassium ion and rubidium ion among alkali metal ions: M18+xM2xM322-xO59-nH2O (1). In the formula (1), M1 is at least one kind of element selected from the group consisting of hydrogen element and alkali metal elements, M2 is at least one kind of element selected from the group consisting of metal elements capable of becoming tetravalent metal ions and M3 is at least one kind of element selected from the group consisting of metal elements capable of becoming pentavalent metal ions.
