PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize energy and space saving by reducing electric power loss and setting electric power capacity of backup power supply at the optimum value in a disk array apparatus. PSOLUTION: A secondary battery box 87, a non-insulation type DC/DC converter 89 and an HDD 91 are implemented in HDD boxes 83SB1/SBto 83SBn/SB, and the secondary battery box 87, high-speed response type non-insulation DC/DC converters 93SB1/SBto 93SB3/SBand loads 95SB1/SBto 95SB3/SBare implemented on logic circuit boards 85SB1/SBto 85SBn/SB. Each of the secondary battery box 87 has a charge/discharge circuit 97 and a series body 99 of a plurality of secondary batteries. In the HDD box, output voltage of the secondary battery box 87 is supplied to the HDD 91 through the DC/DC converter 89. On the logic circuit board, output voltage of the secondary battery box 87 is supplied to each of the corresponding loads 95SB1/SBto 95SB3/SBthrough the DC/DC converters 93SB1/SBto 93SB3/SB.
