PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure safety of a vehicle when a selected range of a range selector selected by an operator and a range inside a transmission do not coincide with each other, in regard to a shift-by-wire system wherein a parking lock mechanism is automatically operated in the condition where an ignition switch is turned off.;SOLUTION: This range selection control device 1 for a shift-by-wire type automatic transmission is provided with an automatic parking range selecting means for changing range of the automatic transmission to a range P independently of range position of a shift switch 11 when range of the automatic transmission mounted on a vehicle is different from the range P, and an inhibiting means for inhibiting a range change of the automatic transmission 3 till the range of the shift switch 11 becomes the range P when the range of the shift switch 11 and the range P are different from each other.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
