PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accelerator and an accelerating method capable of easily and consistently accelerating a missile at a high speed.;SOLUTION: The missile accelerator comprises a high energy driving gas generation unit 20 to generate high energy driving gas by compressing predetermined driving gas, a missile accelerating unit 30 having a missile to be accelerated by utilizing the expansion velocity of the high energy driving gas, and a high-pressure coupling 40 to connect the high energy driving gas generation unit 20 to the missile accelerating unit 30. A driving gas compression hole 21 of the high energy driving gas generation unit 20 is connected to a missile acceleration hole 31 in which the missile of the missile accelerating unit 30 is arranged via a connection hole 41 of the high-pressure coupling 40. The diameter of the connection hole 41 of the high-pressure coupling 40 is reduced from the high energy driving gas generation unit 20 to the missile accelerating unit 30.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
