PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a calibration system in an apparatus for measuring degrees of whiteness capable of reducing instrumental errors by adjusting sensitivities in the vicinity of a degree of whiteness equivalent to brown rice and a degree of whiteness equivalent to polished rice through the use of an artificial sample.;SOLUTION: In the calibration system in the apparatus 1 for measuring degrees of whiteness, a sample body housing rice to be measured is arranged at a measuring position of a body 2 of the apparatus 1 for measuring degrees of whiteness, the rice to be measured housed in the sample body is irradiated with measuring light, and reflected light is signal-processed to measure the degree of whiteness of the rice to be measured. An artificial sample calibrating body 20 housing an artificial sample 10 made of an inorganic material or an organic material having both a degree of whiteness equivalent or approximate to the degree of whiteness of rice to be measured such as brown rice and polished rice and few alterations is arranged at the measuring position of the body 2, and sensitivity adjustment is performed by measuring the degree of whiteness of the artificial sample housed in the artificial sample calibrating body 20.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
