PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support a decision on a rational repair/update strategy saving long term maintenance costs of a structure while maintaining safety thereof, in maintenance repair/update of a structure such as a bridge constituted of a plurality of members having master-servant relationship in view of repair/update works.;SOLUTION: In many members constituting a structure, a plurality of members having the master-servant relationship in view of repair/update works are determined. For each member in the master-servant relationship, an aging degradation is determined at given inspection timing. The degradation which each degradation is expected to reach at the next inspection timing is expressed by a stochastic matrix. Various repair/update strategies are set in dependence on the degradation of each member at given inspection timing, including immediate repair/update of a degraded member and adjourned repair/update to the next inspection timing. For each repair/update strategy, a minimum value of life cycle costs of the structure is calculated according to the Bellman equation.
