RACK FOR STOWING FUEL BUNDLE, AND METHOD FOR DESIGNING THE SAME

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack for stowing fuel bundles which can ensure nuclear criticality safety at low cost, without lowering the stowing rate of the fuel bundles, even if their enrichment becomes enhanced. PSOLUTION: In the rack for stowing the fuel bundles which keeps numerous fuel cells for stowing the fuel bundles, arranged through the medium of water gaps with neutron absorbing plates located in these water gaps respectively and is placed in water, the concentration of a neutron absorber, boron (B), contained in a cell metal material is restrained to a prescribed value or lower by setting the distance of the water gap between the outer surface of the cell metal material, constituting adjoining fuel cells at between 18mm and 50mm inclusive and the width of a water layer formed in a space between the outer surface of the cell metal material and that of the neutron absorbing plates at 7mm or larger.
