PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic time setting device, a television receiver and a program for bringing a computer to perform a control process, which can set Time of Day (Greenwich mean time) or Local Time Zone & DST Use (time lag between local time and daylight saving time), even in the case desired time of day data do not exist in an EDS signal.;SOLUTION: The automatic time setting device is equipped with a data slicer processing section 100 which picks up the EDS signal included in a vertical blanking interval from a video signal and extracts time of day data included in the EDS signal; and a control section 200 which determines whether or not the time of day data exist in the EDS signal, and in the case the time of day data do not exist therein, which sets the Local Time Zone (local time zone) and calculates the time of day data from the set Local Time Zone (local time zone).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
