PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing pyrite contained in a leaching residue of a hydrometallurgical copper refining process and concentrating a noble metal in the residue. PSOLUTION: This method is a method for concentrating the noble metal in the leaching residue which is produced when treating copper sulfide ore by the hydrometallurgical copper refining process comprising a leaching step using an acidic aqueous solution, a copper-containing leachate reduction step and a copper electrolytic extraction step and contains the pyrites, sulfur as a simple substance, the noble metal and gangue. This method for concentrating the noble metal comprises: a thermal decomposition step where the leaching residue is subjected to heat treatment at 550C under a nonoxidizing atmosphere to prepare calcine containing pyrrhotite resultant from the thermal decomposition, the noble metal and the gangue; and a calcine releaching step where the calcine is subjected to releaching treatment using an acidic aqueous solution to form a releaching residue containing the sulfur as a simple substance, the noble metal and the gangue and an iron leachate.
