PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of an electrostatic ink jet head in which clogging of an ink nozzle can be prevented without complicating the circuitry or lowering the print speed.;SOLUTION: As a driving voltage pulse signal V3 of an electrostatic ink jet head 110, such a signal as a driving voltage pulse Pwa for oscillating meniscus and a driving voltage pulse Pwb for ejecting ink appear alternately is employed. An ink nozzle 115 for ejecting an ink liquid drop is applied with the driving voltage pulse Pwb for ejecting an ink drop, and other ink nozzles 115 are applied with the driving voltage pulse Pwa for oscillating meniscus thus generating faint oscillation of an ink meniscus. Since these driving voltage pulses are applied selectively to the ink nozzle 115, thickened ink can be prevented from standing in the ink nozzle 115 to cause clogging. Since the period of the driving voltage pulse Pwb for ejecting ink can be shortened as much as possible by setting the moment in time when the driving voltage pulse Pwa for oscillating meniscus is applied appropriately, print speed is not lowered.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
