PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a cutting correction necessity limit of a rail head top surface by accurately measuring wavy abrasion generated on the rail head top surface in a short time.;SOLUTION: This device has a sensor 4 arranged above a rail 1, and a personal computer 6 for grouping a measured amplitude calculated by receiving a measured value from the sensor 4 and obtaining the relation of the groups; and measures a distance to the head top surface of the rail 1 by the sensor 4; and determines the cutting correction necessity limit of the rail head top surface from the relation with the amplitude number in a group by grouping this calculation value as the measured amplitude by successively calculating a vertical difference between the adjacent summit and the bottom of a measured waveform.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
