PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply storage of a variety of electronic documents to a single electronic document and manage electronic documents usable for a plurality of usages by arbitrarily combining a plurality of management methods to become applicable. PSOLUTION: An electronic document management server has a means of storing electronic documents; a means of registering the types of the electronic documents; a function of notifying the types of the registrations of the electronic documents to clients; a means of setting the management methods for each type of electronic documents; a function of notifying the management methods for the electronic documents to the clients; and a means of storing the electronic documents according to the management methods for the electronic documents.
