METHOD FOR DISCRIMINATING BETWEEN FRONT AND BACK OF WOOD ON BASIS OF ANNUAL RING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automatically discriminating between the front and the back of not only a standardized wood plate but also a non-standardized wood plate in similar ways by matching the specified surface of the plate with annual ring.;SOLUTION: Images are captured using a camera 6 from the end face 5 of a plate 1 and inputted to an image processing system 7. The image processing system 7 extracts annual ring within each image as lines or figures. The correspondence between the lines or figures and the specified surface 10 of the plate is detected.
