PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of analyzing an absolute molecular weight of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose phthalate, and a molecular weight distribution thereof, using a proper solvent for dissolving the hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose phthalate and using a light scattering method. PSOLUTION: In this method of analyzing the absolute molecular weight of the hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose phthalate, a sample solution wherein the hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose phthalate is dissolved in a mixture solution of an acetic acid buffer solution and N,N-dimethyl formamide is analyzed by a GPC-MALLS using as a mobile phase the mixture solution of the acetic acid buffer solution and the N,N-dimethyl formamide.
