PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for cell search and multiplex path search in a mobile communication system.;SOLUTION: The method according to the invention conducts third-stage cell search or multiplex path for detecting scrambling codes used in a base station. At first, at least one scrambling code is generated; a correlation energy value of a received signal is obtained for at least two or more scrambling codes generated sequentially with a preset time delay. On the other hand, a scrambling code is generated one by one with the preset time delay, and it is determined whether the correlation energy value of the received signal is obtained or not for these scrambling codes; and the correlation energy value of the received signal is obtained for the generated scrambling codes according to the determination. Then, scrambling codes used in the base station or multiplex path assigned to each finger of a rake receiver is determined, using the correlation energy value for the obtained scrambling codes.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
