IMPROVEMENT OF IMAGE QUALITY USING PARTIAL TEMPLATE MATCHING

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to improve the resolution of an image which may includes noise and errors in data. PSOLUTION: A window composed of central target pixels and surrounding pixels is extracted from original image data. Data of the surrounding pixels in a region demarcated by a predetermined mask template are checked by a bit pattern specified by a predetermined pattern template. In the checking, the discrimination is not made by the degree whether they completely coincide or not, but the discrimination of the coincidence of the pattern is made by the degree of the coincidence. The grade of a coincidence degree is possible to be suitably established. If the coincidence is detected, the target pixels are replaced by the improved pixels. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
