PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly hygroscopic polyester fiber while making the best use of polyester fiber properties such as mechanical strengths.;SOLUTION: The highly hygroscopic polyester fiber is such that the core component consists of a fiber-forming polymer(B) dispersed with a hydrophilic component(A) and the sheath component consists of a fiber-forming polymer(C), being characterized by meeting the following requirements: (1) on the fiber cross section, the dispersion diameter of the hydrophilic component(A) in the core component is ≤2.0μm, (2) the moisture-absorbing/releasing parameter(ΔMR) of the sheath/core-type polyester fiber is ≥1.0%, and (3) a titanium compound having a specific substituent and containing at least carbonyl or carboxy or ester group is incorporated in the hydrophilic component(A) or the hydrophilic component(A) and the fiber-forming polymer(B).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
