PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetostriction displacement direction converting apparatus capable of being located to a body to be driven in various ways in response to an operating mode and the entire dimension of which can be made compact and the space shared by which can be saved, and to provide a magnetostriction actuator and a magnetostriction vibrating apparatus employing the converting apparatus.;SOLUTION: The magnetostriction displacement direction converting apparatus 14 is configured with: a super magnetostriction member; a nearly rod shaped super magnetostriction rod 24 whose one end is a fixed end; a drive coil 26 provided to surround the outer circumference of the super magnetostriction rod 24 and for applying a magnetic field to the super magnetostriction rod 24 in its axial direction; and a displacement direction converting mechanism 30 located at a free end of the super magnetostriction rod 24 to convert the displacement of the super magnetostriction rod 24 in its axial direction into a displacement whose direction differs from the axial direction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
