PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a grinding wheel unit for always positioning and fixing an axial position of a grinding wheel of mounts constant to a grinding position of a workpiece, even when transferring to a grinding machine mount, after correcting the grinding wheel by a correcting machine provided outside the grinding machine.;SOLUTION: This machine outside correcting machine corrects a peripheral surface of a grinding machine and the grinding wheel 2 for grinding a peripheral surface of the cylindrical workpiece W by rotation of the grinding wheel 2, by fastening and fixing both end parts of a fixing shaft 17 of the grinding wheel unit C for rotatably journaling the grinding wheel 2 to opposite end support parts 3a of the mounts 3 and 13. The grinding wheel unit C is a fixing device for fixing this abutting position as an axial L positioning reference D with the mounts 3 and 13, by allowing an abutting part 17b arranged in one shaft end directional part of the fixing shaft 17 to abut on a plane part 3b in one opposite end support part 3a of the mounts 3 and 13.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
