PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module in which a light-receiving or light-emitting element is highly precisely coupled to an optical fiber and an electronic circuit, and the module as a whole is small-sized.;SOLUTION: The optical module 1 at least has an optical fiber 10, a base member 20 having a groove 21 that holds the optical fiber 10 and having electrodes A 23 arranged on an end face 22 which is almost vertical with respect to the longitudinal direction of the groove 21, and a light-receiving or light-emitting element 30 in which a light-receiving or light-emitting part 31 and electrodes B 32 are arranged on a same plane. The light-receiving or light-emitting element 30 is electrically connected as well as mechanically bonded by the electrodes A 23 in a condition in which the optical fiber 10 held in the groove 21 and the light-receiving or light-emitting part 31 are so arranged as to be optically coupled, while the electrodes A 23 and the electrodes B 32 are so arranged as to be electrically connected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
