PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quantifying method capable of quantifying with precision a small amount of a methacrylic acid alkyl ester contained in an acrylic acid-methacrylic acid alkyl ester copolymer. PSOLUTION: The quantifying method comprises a process (1) for extracting the methacrylic acid alkyl ester contained in the acrylic acid-methacrylic acid alkyl ester copolymer through the use of a solvent; a process (2) for measuring an absorption peak area of the methacrylic acid alkyl ester in the extract acquired in the process (1) by liquid chromatography for measuring the absorption of wavelengths within the range of 200-230 nm through the use of acetonitrile of 99.6% purity or higher as a mobile phase; and a process (3) for computing the content of the methacrylic acid alkyl ester contained in the acrylic acid-methacrylic acid alkyl ester copolymer on the basis of the absorption peak area measured in the process (2).
