PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct an in vitro experiment system for reproducing quinolinic acid elimination and transportation in a blood-brain barrier by elucidating quinolinic acid elimination mechanism in a central nerve system.;SOLUTION: Transportation of quinolinic acid in the blood-brain barrier is evaluated by using a conditionally immortalized brain capillary endothelial cell. Consequently, existence of a transportation system for discharging quinolinic acid to the blood-brain barrier of the central nerve system is indicated. Discharge of quinolinic acid from the brain is evaluated by using the transportation system. Further, an evaluation system using TR-BBB13 cell being the conditionally immortalized brain capillary endothelial cell is excellent as a means for examining the influence of various compounds on uptake of quinolinic acid, newly provides an evaluation system useful for screening a medicine influencing discharge of quinolinic acid in the central nerve system and is extremely useful for developing a therapeutic agent for a central nerve disease in the blood-brain barrier.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
