PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photodamage resistant treatment method for an optical element which suppresses a light-induced refractive index fluctuation (photodamage) arising in the optical element consisting of a lithium niobate single crystal or lithium tantabate signal crystal.;SOLUTION: The photodamage can be immediately eliminated, suppressed and controlled simply by irradiating the optical element giving rise to the photodamage with a UV light of 400 nm.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
