The melamine foam padding (7) has a hardness level, measured under ISO 24389 B, of below 300 N, and preferably 160 - 200 N, for 40 per cent indentation force. Preferred Features: Used for a seat or back cushion, at least 50 per cent of the volume is made up of supple melamine foam, and it can have a comfort layer (8) of a different foam or viscoelastic material and also inserts in the form of springs, pouches of fluid or other foam materials. The foam padding is held inside a cover (2b, 3b) of textile, leather or other decorative material which is fire-resistant.
