PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a low-molecular polysaccharide and/or an oligosaccharide, capable of efficiently producing the low-molecular polysaccharide and/or the oligosaccharide useful as a functional food material, a raw material for synthesizing a pharmaceutical, a material for a pharmaceutical composition, or a material for a cosmetic with high purity, and excellent in control and reproducibility of a molecular weight thereof.;SOLUTION: This method for producing the low-molecular polysaccharide and/or the oligosaccharide comprises hydrolyzing a polysaccharide in an aqueous medium having a pH of 1 to 13 at a temperature of 105-300°C, wherein the polysaccharide is selected from the group consisting of agarose, alginic acid, inulin, curdlan, carrageenan, chitin, chitosan, glucomannan, hyaluronic acid, fucoidan, and laminaran.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
