PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide modified fluorine silicate powder which has excellent thickening action and emulsifying action and in which the quantity of fluorine ion eluted in a hot water elution test is remarkably decreased.;SOLUTION: The modified fluorine silicate powder is obtained by modifying a fluorine-containing swellable layered silicate used as a host mineral with an organic ammonium cation modifier having a hydrophobic group and a metallic ion exchanger containing a metallic ion exchangeable for Li or Na among the host layers. It is suitable that the organic ammonium cation in the powder is ≥10 equiv.% to the cation exchange capacity of the fluorine-containing swellable silicate of the host and the metallic ion in the powder is ≥10 equiv.% to the cation exchange capacity of the fluorine-containing swellable silicate of the host.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
