PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic dictionary allowing easy search for a target word by assembling a plurality of similar candidates together to display them and compressing the range of a display area necessary for collective display of search results if there are the similar candidates expressed similarly mutually in the same dictionary or different dictionaries when the respective search results of search by a plurality of dictionary modes are displayed together, and also to provide a display control method and a display control program for the electronic dictionary, and a storage medium storing the display control program for the electronic dictionary. PSOLUTION: In this electronic dictionary which is provided with a plurality of dictionary modes and displays a group of candidates, which are included in the search results by a plurality of dictionary modes, in a display means, when at least a part of the group of the candidates includes the similar candidates expressed similarly to each other, a plurality of the similar expression candidates are allocated to be displayed within the range of the display area allocated for display of one candidate in the display means.
