PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein the development of a crack after the crack is generated cannot be accurately predicted by a conventional material crack development predicting method, because it has been decided whether cracks are generated (developed) based only on the magnitude of corresponding plastic strain.;SOLUTION: In the crack development predicting method, it is decided that the relation between the calculated corresponding plastic strain and the stress multi-axis degree satisfies crack generating conditions, for each element of a finite element model (step 4). As a result of the decision, when it is recognized that the element that satisfies the relation between the corresponding plastic strain and the stress multi-axis degree exists in the finite element model, and the finite element model is renewed for the state in which the cracks develop in the element (step 5).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
