PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time required for recovery while dispensing with repair of a skeleton in restraining horizontal displacement of a superstructure using a horizontal displacement restraining device after installing a base isolating device on a lower structure and joining the superstructure to the base isolating device in a base-isolated structure divided in the lower structure and superstructure with the base isolating device held in between.;SOLUTION: This horizontal displacement restraining device is composed of a beam member 2 laid between adjacent foundations 12, 12 of the lower structure 10 insulated from the superstructure 11, and shorter than a distance between the adjacent foundations 12, 12; an extensible reaction receiver 3 installed between the foundation 12 and at least one end part of the beam member 2 to restrain the axial displacement of the beam member 2; and a restraining member 4 installed between the beam member 2 and the superstructure 11 and detachably joined to the beam member 2 and the superstructure 11 to restrain the horizontal displacement of the superstructure 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
