PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reforming slag in a ladle by which the cleanliness of a steel can be improved without using a large quantity of slag reforming materials and the effects such as the improvements of toughness and surface quality of the steel and the restraint of the nozzle clogging at casting time can be obtained.;SOLUTION: After adding REM ( rare-earth element ) 3 of one or more kinds selected from among Ce, La, Pr and Nd into the molten steel deoxidized with Al or Al-Si, this molten steel is stirred over a period of timet 2-10 times of uniformly mixing time τ measured with S as a tracer and the molten steel 4 in a ladle is reduced from a molten steel 2 boundary side with the rare earth element. Thus, FeO and MnO in the slag are decreased and the effects such as the improvements of the cleanliness of the molten steel, the toughness and the surface quality of the steel, and the restraint of the nozzle clogging at the casting time can be obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
