PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus which can effectively transmit a high-frequency ultrasonic wave under a dry contact condition.;SOLUTION: An ultrasonic wave transmitting base body which is constituted by being provided with a vessel in which an ultrasonic wave transmitting medium 7 is filled, an ultrasonic probe 8a which is provided in the vessel while connecting with an ultrasonic wave measuring means 8, and a polymer film 2 having adhesion and/or stickiness which is provided at an opening 1a of the vessel, is prepared. An attachment is located between the outside of the opening of the vessel and a sample existing in a dry environment, and a narrow space window 12 corresponding to the opening are provided. A negative pressure applying means 6 which can cause a negative pressure in the narrow space window at need is also provided. At least the inspection area of the sample is made to come into dry contact with the polymer film by operating the negative pressure applying means of the ultrasonic wave transmitting base body. In addition, due to the negative pressure of the narrow space window, the polymer film and the sample can be brought into uniform contact with each other without having an air layer therebetween.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
