PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a relative position of an object with respect to an interface portion by utilizing an electromagnetic wave from the object through the detection of the electromagnetic wave passing through the interface portion, thereby providing information on a relative distance or a positional relation between the interface portion and the object.;SOLUTION: By this spatial position detection method, information is detected on a relative spatial position of the object 101 with respect to the interface portion 102 having an arbitrary shape and relating to the transmission of information and signals from one side to the other side. The electromagnetic wave 106 from the object 101 passing through the interface portion 102 is detected by an electromagnetic wave detection part 103.
