PURPOSE: To obviate the tensing work by operators and tense a chain in an appropriate time and automatically carry out the tensing operation to provide an appropriate tension necessary for the operation of a chain conveyor. ;CONSTITUTION: A driving cylinder 20 for tension is fitted to the sprocket wheel shaft 17 installed at the upper part of a sweeping machine 1 so as to freely slide. The driving cylinder 20 is actuated until a preset tension is obtained on the suspension of the sweeping machine 1 and the sprocket wheel shaft 17 is shifted to pull a raking chain 11 and tense it. After the driving cylinder 20 has been suspended at a preset tension, it is driven reversely to retract by a fine distance. In this way, the excessive tension given by the driving cylinder 20 is released and an appropriate chain tension is automatically provided to the raking chain 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
