PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the weight of aggregates in a high temperature, e.g. reduced iron pellets discharged from a rotary kiln and carried on a conveyor, on real-time basis. SOLUTION: A CCD area camera 7, disposed above a conveyor 6 picks up the infrared or near-infrared image of the conveyor and reduced iron pellets 20, to obtain a two-dimensional unit image. Each image density in each unit image area is compared with a threshold density and the low density conveyor part is separated from the high-density pellet aggregate part through binarization. Area of each aggregate, existing in each unit image area, is then determined by an area correction value per pixel, and the weight of each aggregate is measured, based on a predetermined relation between the image area and the weight of the pellet aggregate. Weight of all pellet aggregates is measured by integrating these measurements.
