PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sum up URL pages referred to by a user as reference sources in a hypertext system such as a WWW and to present a list of reference sources to the user. ;SOLUTION: A reference information extraction means 4 extracts the URL of a reference source from a request header issued from a client computer 3, extracts the data type of a data file from a response header issued from a server computer 1 and stores these reference information in a reference information storage means 5. When the number of pieces of reference information exceeds a fixed number, the URLs of respective reference sources are summed up for each data type by using a counting means 6 and a sorting means 7. A frame URL excluding means 23 excludes the URL of a frame definition page so as not to count up it.
