PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new compound which is a specific compound, containing fullerene and having an alkoxysilyl group, curable by mixing thereof with a resin, readily providing a cured film containing the fullerene and useful as an optical functional material, etc., such as a three-dimensional nonlinear optical material. ;CONSTITUTION: This new compound contains fullerene and is represented by formula I [formula II is a group in which (n) X double bonds thereof present in the fullerene molecule are converted into single bonds ; (n) is an integer of ≥1; R₁ is a direct bond, a 1-11C alkylene or an aryl; R₂ to R₄ are each methoxy, ethoxy, methyl or ethyl; X is CH₂, S, NH or NR (R is a 1-6C alkyl]. A resin composition comprising the compound containing the fullerene is cured to readily afford a cured film comprising the fullerene and is useful as an optical functional material, etc., such as a three-dimensional nonlinear optical material. The compound is obtained by carrying out the addition reaction of a compound having an alkoxysilyl group and active hydrogen (e.g. 2- aminopropyltriethoxysilane) to a double bond in a fullerene compound.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
