PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method and device for document important sentence ranking that can give importance of each sentence even to a document which is short like an electronic mail and does not have any fixed-form structure and the recording medium where the document important sentence ranking program is recorded. SOLUTION: An inputted document is analyzed (S2), the analyzed document is divided into sentences (S3), and importance is given (S4) to each sentence according to the importance of the expression of the sentence by referring to a table wherein the importance of expressions is described. Further, the importance of each sentence is adjusted by referring to a table where expressions adjusting the importance are described.
