PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing carbon around charge inlet of a coke oven, capable of removing attached carbon around the charge inlet in a short period while minimally suppressing damage of the oven and provide a method for removing carbon. ;SOLUTION: When charge of coal and extruding operation of coke are carried out by so-called block operation carrying out charge of coal into plural carbonization chambers 1 arranged in rows in turn and carrying out extruding of coke subjected to dry distillation in the order of prescribed arranged chambers according to the order of coal charge, a charge inlet 5 of a carbonization chamber 1b after completing coke extrusion is opened by operating a lid-removing device 20 only for a prescribed time until coal-charging operation of present coal charge to the carbonization chamber 1a is completed and air is forcibly supplied to the charge inlet 5 by an air charging device 21.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
