PURPOSE:To obtain a filter material having high leukocyte removing ability preferably useful for a filter device for removing leukocyte, being utilized in transfusing an erythrocyte preparation or whole blood preparation. CONSTITUTION:This leukocyte removing filter material comprises yarn or a porous material of a polymer having open pores, containing a basic functional group and a nonionic hydrophilic group and has a molar ratio of the basic functional group to the nonionic hydrophilic group on the surface of 0.6-6 and 5X10-5 to 0.1meq/m2 basic functional group density on the surface.
