PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily replace information input output and conversion capability provided to each terminal equipment between terminal equipments by storing input output capability information to different input output capability fields and storing cross reference information. ;SOLUTION: The input output capability of each equipment is expressed as a capability attribute item and an attribute and each has an input capability 11 and an output capability table 12. Moreover, when a terminal equipment has a plurality of capabilities for information input capability, each capability is described on different input capability table 11. As to an output capability, each capability is described on an output capability table 12 corresponding to the different output capability field. Furthermore, the cross reference between the input capability field of the input capability table 11 and the input capability field of the output capability table 12 is described on a conversion capability table 13 based on the information conversion capability of the terminal equipment. Then a capability conversion control section 14 controls the capability exchange with other terminal equipment while referring to the input, output and exchange capability tables 11-13.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
