PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To handle even a lime stone of a black color tone and quickly investigate a lime stone deposit,, by putting a mineral to be judged in a simple judging agent obtained by dissolving a specific amount of bromocresol green in dilute nitric acid and stirring the agent. ;SOLUTION: A simply judging agent is obtained by dissolving 0.03mol/l or more bromocresol green (pH eindicator) into 1.0mol/l or less dilute nitric acid. A mineral of lime stone or dolomite to be judged is put in the agent and stirred. The mineral is judged from a color change of the judging agent. Although an acid pH approaches to be neutral as the lime stone/dolomite is dissolved in the acid, a dissolving speed to the acid is different, between the lime stone and dolomite because of contents of MgO. Therefore, the lime stone/dolomite can be distinguished by measuring the time required for a color change of the pH indicator. The lime stone and dolomite can be distinguished outdoors simply and quickly without carrying a large quantity of dargerous strong acid, thereby improving efficiency for investigating a lime stone deposit.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
